A planner, not a call centre.
Yes, it's cold — 0-8°C summer, -2 to 4°C winter — but we plan around it. The jeep is heated; we provide thick blankets and a tea-flask; kids stay wrapped throughout. We recommend a thermal innerwear + fleece + windbreaker layering for kids. Honestly, no kid forgets the experience. Skip Tiger Hill only if you have a child under 4 — the 3:45 AM wake-up is too disruptive.
Yes — every meal has a kid-friendly subset (plain dal-chawal, chow mein, paratha-curd, fresh fruit). We pre-arrange Cerelac/oats for toddlers if you flag the brand. Glenary's bakery has the best kid-breakfast in town (cinnamon rolls, sausages, hot chocolate). Vegetarian, Jain, gluten-free — all handled with 14 days notice.
Honestly: no for kids under 10. Pelling is a 12-13 hour day-trip with monastery walks, ruins, and a long drive — kids find it boring and exhausting. The 5N/6D family package is paced for kids' attention spans; if you want Pelling, our 7N/8D family-extended package handles it as a 2N stay instead of a day-trip.
Very safe — 1st-class enclosed coaches with windows you can choose to open. The train moves at 25-30 km/h, no sharp turns or sudden brakes. Kids 3+ love it. Under-3 we put on a parent's lap as the seat-pricing requires (we'll book the family-block of 6 seats together). Steam locomotive is the headline; we book steam where available and confirm 14 days before.
Absolutely. We provide ground-floor rooms (no climb), wheelchair-friendly cars, and skip the steep Tenzing Rock + climb-heavy stops. Tiger Hill, the zoo, the Joy Ride, and Mirik are all easy. The Pelling extension we'd skip for grandparents. Tell us at booking and we adjust the activity list accordingly.
