- DAY 1
Day 1: Arrive Hanoi — Hoan Kiem Lake Evening
Arrive Hanoi. Budget hostel check-in in the Old Quarter. Walk to Hoan Kiem Lake (5 minutes). Watch the local evening ritual — families walking, couples sitting by the water, vendors selling corn and sugarcane juice. Find a bia hoi corner (outdoor street beer hall): ₹60 per glass of fresh draught beer. Join the communal tables. This is Hanoi at its most authentic.
- DAY 2
Day 2: Hanoi + Ha Long Bay Budget Cruise
Free morning in Hanoi: Ho Chi Minh complex (free to walk outside). Join a free walking tour from the hostel. Lunch: banh mi from Banh Mi 25 (₹60). Afternoon: shared bus to Ha Long Bay (3.5hrs). Board budget group cruise. Kayaking. Cave. Dinner on board. Night: star-watching from the deck with new friends.
- DAY 3
Day 3: Ha Long → Hanoi → Night Bus to Da Nang
Return to Hanoi by 3pm. Drop luggage at hostel. Dinner at Bun Cha Huong Lien (where Obama ate, famous street restaurant). 9pm: Sleeper bus to Da Nang (overnight, 16hrs, ₹800). Sleep through the journey.

Day 4: Arrive Da Nang → Hoi An Ancient Town
Arrive Da Nang 9am. Budget guesthouse. Rent bicycle (₹200/day) to Hoi An (5km along the beach road). Explore Ancient Town on the bicycle — no traffic inside. Japanese Bridge. Market. Cao lau lunch (₹150). Evening lantern shopping. Return Da Nang.

Day 5: Da Nang → Fly Ho Chi Minh City → Cu Chi Tunnels
Morning flight Da Nang-HCMC (1hr, included). Budget guesthouse in Pham Ngu Lao (backpacker district). Afternoon: Cu Chi Tunnels half-day tour (join group tour, ₹800 including transport). Crawl through the tunnels used by Viet Cong guerrillas during the Vietnam War. Evening: Ben Thanh Night Market. Street food dinner: com tam (broken rice, ₹150), fresh sugarcane juice (₹40).
- DAY 6
Day 6: Ho Chi Minh City — Depart
War Remnants Museum (most important museum in Vietnam, ₹150 entry). Reunification Palace. Ben Thanh Market. Transfer to Tan Son Nhat Airport. Depart. Trip ends.
