Crafting your travel…
Seven Cities, One Restless Capital
Most travellers meet Delhi on the way to somewhere else, which is a shame, because the city rewards two good days. Start in Old Delhi with the Red Fort, Jama Masjid and a food walk through Chandni Chowk, then give the next day to New Delhi: Humayun's Tomb, Qutub Minar, India Gate and an evening in Lodhi Garden. The metro reaches most of these sights and beats the traffic at rush hour. Delhi also works as the starting point for the Golden Triangle to Agra and Jaipur, and for pilgrimage routes to Mathura, Vrindavan and Haridwar, which is how most of our Delhi trips run. October to March brings the pleasant weather, though December and January can bring thick morning fog that delays flights and trains. We plan arrival days with that in mind and keep your first evening light.
